About Us

History

Western Illinois Mutual is the combination of two strong companies joining together to form an even stronger company ready to do business into the future.

Camp Point Mutual Insurance Company was chartered in 1877 by a group of Adams County farmers seeking affordable insurance to guard against catastrophic loss.  We have been in the same location since 1913, and we operate today, as then, with a board of directors elected by our policyholders.  Daily operations are directed by a secretary/manager and our staff.

Carthage Mutual was chartered in 1897 in Hancock County. Both companies were organized as Farm Mutual companies which means that they are owned by policyholders, not shareholders.
